Project Manager

Reporting to the Project Director or Regional Director, the Project Manager provides leadership and oversight for small to medium-scale projects. The role requires collaboration with clients/partners/departments, both internal and external, to execute all project activities on time and within budget.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Safety Ownership on the project
• Responsible for team focus on Safety, Quality and Productivity
• Accountable to maintain the budget for the project, reporting any variances to Operations
• Read, review and understand the project requirements, scope of work and complete transmission line work contract package
• Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all business, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project
• Oversee the overall execution of the project and work with technical and support managers to make adjustments to schedule, personnel and equipment to ensure project is completed on time and on budget
• Works with Construction Managers and Project Engineers to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project
• Proactively manage and review the project management team and ensure they are meeting the goals and requirements of the contract and Purchaser
• Review and clarify technical requirements with Construction Managers and Quality Managers
• Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes
• Communicate project performance to Senior Management
• Acts as the Company representative with the client and selected subcontractors during the project planning, execution and overall lifecycle
• Negotiates with the client and key subcontractors
• Responsible for following up on instructions and commitments associated with the project
• Responsible for the development and distribution of a one to two page description of the project to all members of the project team for reference
• Assigns responsibility for executing project plans to key members of the project team after careful assessment of how to utilize their qualifications and strengths
• Provides input to performance reviews and development plans for subordinates
• Field responsibilities may include labor relations, local procurement and payroll operations, etc., if required
• Mobilizes company resources, through liaison with support departments, other offices, or subsidiaries, to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work
• Ensures that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans
• Works with the key project individual to devise and execute actions plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work
• Advises the client and company management of any such changes
• The Project Manager is specifically responsible for maintaining current and timely change orders
• Monitors and reports to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule
• Establishes weekly meeting to review project status and formulate action items
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

The accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing contractor scope of work
• Reviewing contract documentation
• Solicitation for pricing and services
• Assembly of schedule and proposal documentation


• (10) plus years in a project management leadership role
• Demonstrable and verifiable experience leading Engineering, Procurement and Construction of Transmission Powerline projects
• Project Management Professional (PMP), University Degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant field, and/or suitable relevant Education and direct project leadership experience
• Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in large linear construction projects, ex High Voltage Transmission lines and/or Pipelines
• Proficient with Microsoft
• Proficient with computers

• Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of management, employees and clients
• Ability to work independently with little direction and with a sense of ownership and personal commitment to exceptional results

• Task-orientated with strong attention to detail and follow through
• Strong working knowledge of computer applications, including MS Office suite, and computer based scheduling and tracking software such as Primavera P6 and MS Project
• Interpersonal and client service skills
• Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging fast paced, time sensitive environment
• Strong ethics, professionalism, and interpersonal skills

This position requires candidates to:
• Successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing to obtain clearance for site access
• Valid Driver’s licenses and acceptable divers abstract is required, as this position requires driving and site visits
• Requires regular travel to various project sites and office locations
• Ability to travel to and work at project locations situated throughout North America
